Denise Descoteau

Denise Descoteau was born and raised in Worcester, MA before moving to Holyoke to finish her B.A. degree at Smith College in Northampton.  She completed her M.A. +30 at the University of Massachusetts / Amherst.  She has been employed by the Holyoke Public Schools as a Visual Art Teacher for the past 19 years and has had the pleasure of working with the students at Kelly School during that time.  She serves as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team at Kelly, and is a guest lecturer in the Art Education Department of Westfield State University.  She is also a Cooperating Teacher in the Art Education Student Teaching Program at UMASS / Amherst and Westfield State University and is on the Board of Directors of Homework House in Holyoke. Her work with the Kelly students relies on interdisciplinary connections through art and she enjoys “bringing the world” to her students through her lessons and projects.   While her goals for the students are many, she hopes the students will develop the “art” of living a life filled with positive accomplishments.
